See ya in 6 months

So chemo has started! So the type of chemo Critter is getting is intense. These are some mean drugs. We have to wear gloves when changing his diaper or dealing with any secretions because the chemo will come out in urine, vomit and other fluids and could harm us, especially our skin cells. With the start of chemo the doctors and nurses have talked to us soooo many times about infection. With his blood cell count so low he is at a huge risk for infection, a common cold can mean the difference between life or death. Because we want to take every precaution to protect his health and his life we are not accepting visitors at this time. In fact we have limited visitors to 4 people only. Jason, myself and our mothers. The best way to support us is from home! We are working on a schedule of babysitters and will be sure to ask from anyone that every said "if we can do anything" so be expecting phone calls. Thank you for all the support and love we have felt from home. We have been overwhelmed by every ones thoughts and prayers! Thank you for all your support!

  2. Hi, there - this just breaks my heart. I am so sorry that you and your little one have to go through this. I know we haven't seen much of each other, but I would be happy to have your boys over anytime. Honestly. And I am sure my boys would love it, too. Heather has my # or Jason can send me a note on FB.

  4. Niki, after all of this you need to ask for a raise because you are going to be the smartest nurse in the entire world!! I think that the central line is so interesting because it completely makes sense to get everything right in there. Will it cause him any discomfort or will he handle it pretty well? I bet those mom's are going to help out so much and that was a great idea to add them to your task force or 4. Grandma's are the best and I am sure glad we have the ones that we have. Wish you the best!!

  6. We are hoping to get that phone call letting us know what we can do to help. Tonight after I said the prayer for dinner Jackson reminded me that I didn't pray for Critter, so we said another one just for him. We are all thinking about you and remembering you in our prayers!

  10. You all are so wonderful. You have no idea the strength we gain just from your thoughts and prayers. Wendy this means that we will spend at least the next six months in and out of the hospital normaly there for about 3 weeks and then home for a week.

  11. Our hearts are full here in California. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers. If you want to send your boys out to us we would take them in a second for as long as you need us to! My mother has a central line for her chemo and it's wonderful. Please know how much we love you and will be thinking about you. Thanks for posting updates and pictures. We'll stay in touch.

  12. Niki-
This is Beth Landgrebe. Jason & my hsuband Josh used to work together at Broken Arrow and Josh also worked with Weston. Michelle told me about your blog so I had to come check it out. I am so sad that this has happened to your little guy, but as they say everything happens for a reason... lets hope the reason will come soon. Hang in there. And if you need anything, even if Jason needs a friend to chat with he can always call Josh..
You and your family is in our prayers !

  16. I know a lot of nurses who work up at ICS. As horrible as cancer is, that is the place to be when your child has cancer. Good luck with everything! I know it gets really rough sometimes. Although Jordan and I are busy, please call us when you need babysitters or dinner. We would love to help.
    Love,
